RemindMe does not collect, transmit, or store any personal data on external servers. Everything stays on your iPhone.
RemindMe does not collect any personal information. The app has no user accounts, no registration, and no server back-end.
| Data type | Purpose | Leaves your device? |
|---|---|---|
| Location (background) | Monitor geofence boundaries to trigger reminder alerts | ❌ Never |
| Reminder titles & notes | Displayed in notifications and the app list | ❌ Never |
| Saved place names | Shown in your saved-locations library | ❌ Never |
| App preferences | Default radius, alert type, appearance, language | ❌ Never |
RemindMe contains no analytics SDK, no crash-reporting SDK, no advertising SDK, and no third-party frameworks that could transmit data. The only network request the app ever makes is the place-search feature, which sends your typed query to Apple's MapKit servers — the same infrastructure used by Apple Maps.
RemindMe requests "Always On" location access solely to monitor the geofence boundaries you set up. It does not track your movements or build a location history.
iOS geofencing only works in the background when the app has Always location permission. With "When In Use" only, iOS suspends geofence monitoring the moment you leave the app, making reminders unreliable.
You can change or revoke location permission at any time in iOS Settings → Privacy & Security → Location Services → RemindMe. Note that reminders will stop triggering if location access is removed.
RemindMe uses iOS local notifications exclusively. There is no push notification server, and no Apple Push Notification service (APNs) token is ever requested or stored.
When iOS detects that you have crossed a geofence boundary, it wakes RemindMe briefly. The app schedules a local notification using the reminder's title and description that you entered. The notification is composed and delivered entirely on your device.
Urgent reminders play a loud audio alert using the AVAudioSession API. This audio is played locally on-device and involves no external service.
You can disable notifications at any time in iOS Settings → RemindMe → Notifications. Reminders will no longer produce alerts, but the app itself continues to function.
All reminders, saved locations, and preferences are stored locally using Apple's SwiftData framework. There is no cloud sync and no remote backup.
RemindMe offers an optional iCloud sync feature that you can enable or disable at any time from the app's Settings.
When iCloud sync is turned off (default):
Your reminders and saved locations are stored locally on your device only. No data is sent to iCloud by the app. Standard iOS device backups (via iTunes, Finder, or iCloud device backup) may include this local data as part of a full device backup — this is managed entirely by iOS and Apple's infrastructure, not by RemindMe.
When iCloud sync is turned on:
Your reminders and saved locations are synced across your Apple devices using Apple's CloudKit technology. Your data is stored in your own private iCloud account and is never accessible to RemindMe or any third party. Apple handles all storage and transmission securely. You can turn off iCloud sync at any time from Settings, which will stop further syncing and revert to local-only storage.
RemindMe does not operate any servers, does not collect your reminder data, and has no access to anything stored in your iCloud account.
Deleting RemindMe from your iPhone permanently removes all app data — reminders, saved locations, and preferences. There is no server-side data to delete because none exists.
RemindMe does not share, sell, rent, or disclose any data to any third party — because no data ever leaves your device.
When you type a place name in the search bar while creating a reminder, the search query is sent to Apple's MapKit servers to retrieve results. This is the same service used by Apple Maps. Apple's handling of this data is governed by Apple's Privacy Policy. RemindMe does not receive or store any data from these requests beyond displaying the results to you.
RemindMe may disclose information if required to do so by law. However, since no user data is ever collected or stored by the developer, there is nothing to disclose.
Because RemindMe stores all data locally on your device and collects nothing externally, you already have complete control over your data.
You can review and revoke app permissions at any time in iOS Settings → RemindMe:
RemindMe does not collect any personal information from anyone, including children under 13.
Because the app collects no data whatsoever, it has no specific age restriction from a data-privacy perspective. The app is a simple utility tool and does not contain any content inappropriate for minors.
If this privacy policy is updated, the new version will be posted at this URL and the "Last updated" date will be changed.
Given that RemindMe collects no data and has no user accounts, there is no mechanism to notify users directly. We recommend bookmarking this page if you wish to stay informed.
