Your data stays on your device.
Awan has no accounts and no analytics. Everything you create stays on your iPhone — the one exception is the optional Create with AI feature, which sends the text you type to an AI service to build your reminder.

Awan does not collect any personal information. The app has no user accounts and no registration. Your reminders, places, and preferences live on your device — the only things sent out are the place-search query and, if you use it, the text you type into Create with AI.

Awan contains no analytics SDK, no crash-reporting SDK, no advertising SDK, and no third-party frameworks that could transmit data. The app makes a network request in only two cases: the place-search feature (your typed query goes to Apple's MapKit servers, the same infrastructure used by Apple Maps), and the optional Create with AI feature described in the next section.
Create with AI lets you describe a reminder in plain Arabic or English and have Awan build it for you. It's optional and available to subscribers. To do this, the text you type has to be processed in the cloud.
The text is sent over an encrypted connection to our own proxy server, which forwards it to our AI provider, Anthropic (Claude), to extract a structured reminder. Anthropic processes it to generate the response and, per its API terms, does not use it to train its models. Their handling is governed by Anthropic's Privacy Policy.
Create with AI is entirely optional. If you never use it, no reminder text ever leaves your device from this feature. You can always create reminders manually with the Location, Time, and Car pickers instead.
Awan requests "Always On" location access solely to monitor the geofence boundaries you set up. It does not track your movements or build a location history.
iOS geofencing only works in the background when the app has Always location permission. With "When In Use" only, iOS suspends geofence monitoring the moment you leave the app, making reminders unreliable.
You can change or revoke location permission at any time in iOS Settings → Privacy & Security → Location Services → Awan. Note that reminders will stop triggering if location access is removed.
Awan uses iOS local notifications exclusively. There is no push notification server, and no Apple Push Notification service (APNs) token is ever requested or stored.
When iOS detects that you have crossed a geofence boundary, it wakes Awan briefly. The app schedules a local notification using the reminder's title and description that you entered. The notification is composed and delivered entirely on your device.
Urgent reminders play a loud audio alert using the AVAudioSession API. This audio is played locally on-device and involves no external service.
You can disable notifications at any time in iOS Settings → Awan → Notifications. Reminders will no longer produce alerts, but the app itself continues to function.
All reminders, saved locations, and preferences are stored locally using Apple's SwiftData framework. There is no cloud sync and no remote backup.
Awan offers an optional iCloud sync feature that you can enable or disable at any time from the app's Settings.
When iCloud sync is turned off (default):
Your reminders and saved locations are stored locally on your device only. No data is sent to iCloud by the app. Standard iOS device backups (via iTunes, Finder, or iCloud device backup) may include this local data as part of a full device backup — this is managed entirely by iOS and Apple's infrastructure, not by Awan.
When iCloud sync is turned on:
Your reminders and saved locations are synced across your Apple devices using Apple's CloudKit technology. Your data is stored in your own private iCloud account and is never accessible to Awan or any third party. Apple handles all storage and transmission securely. You can turn off iCloud sync at any time from Settings, which will stop further syncing and revert to local-only storage.
Awan does not operate any servers, does not collect your reminder data, and has no access to anything stored in your iCloud account.
Deleting Awan from your iPhone permanently removes all app data — reminders, saved locations, and preferences. There is no server-side data to delete because none exists.
Awan never sells, rents, or discloses your data for advertising or profiling. Two features send data to a service purely to fulfil your request — place search and Create with AI — and nothing more.
When you type a place name in the search bar while creating a reminder, the search query is sent to Apple's MapKit servers to retrieve results. This is the same service used by Apple Maps. Apple's handling of this data is governed by Apple's Privacy Policy. Awan does not receive or store any data from these requests beyond displaying the results to you.
If you use Create with AI, the text you type is sent through our proxy to our AI provider, Anthropic (Claude), solely to turn it into a structured reminder. It isn't shared with anyone else, isn't tied to your identity, and isn't used to advertise to you. See AI Features for the full detail.
Awan may disclose information if required to do so by law. However, since no user data is ever collected or stored by the developer, there is nothing to disclose.
Because Awan stores all data locally on your device and collects nothing externally, you already have complete control over your data.
You can review and revoke app permissions at any time in iOS Settings → Awan:
Awan does not collect any personal information from anyone, including children under 13.
Because the app collects no data whatsoever, it has no specific age restriction from a data-privacy perspective. The app is a simple utility tool and does not contain any content inappropriate for minors.
If this privacy policy is updated, the new version will be posted at this URL and the "Last updated" date will be changed.
Given that Awan collects no data and has no user accounts, there is no mechanism to notify users directly. We recommend bookmarking this page if you wish to stay informed.
